Fortnitemares- Baba Yaga and The Good Doctor

Fortnitemares- Baba Yaga and The Good Doctor

In this episode we will explore two classic tales that made an appearance this year in Fortnite's Halloween Event.

"Intro to Bony-Legs" from Boney-Legs by Joanna Cole, published in 1983 by Scholastic Inc.

Literary Guidlines:

Parents, in this episode we touch on 2 literary terms: Folktales and Duality.

Folktales are stories told through generations of a particular culture (this folktale in particular is Slavic/Russian)

Duality is a thematic concept in literature that recognizes or explores the two sides, the "good" and "evil" within all living things.

The Witches by Roald Dahl and Roblox Islands Witches Event

The Witches by Roald Dahl and Roblox Islands Witches Event

The episode dives into a childhood favorite book, The Witches by Roald Dahl and how the book inspired a movie, a movie remake, and eventually a Roblox Islands Halloween event!

The Grand High Witch's speech is read from The Witches by Roald Dahl which was publish in 1983 by Puffin Books

Literary Guidlines:

Parents, this episode includes the literary term THEME, which means the universal message, or lesson in the book. It can also be defined as how the book explores a particular topic, or "life lesson". A "reoccurring theme", is when an author replays these same thoughts, lessons, explorations in multiple works of literature. This is something Roald Dahl definitely does, exploring under appreciated children, and cruel adults. This is why his work is so attractive to kids, it gives them space to wonder, "What if I'm not always wrong; what if the adults are?"
